Courageous OSFC midfielder Charlie Tallent was a runaway winner of the McGregor Award for best and fairest, announced and presented at the awards night on Friday evening. Charlie finished well ahead of first year player Luke Brennan who played just seven games for the season. Nathan Byrne was third. Charlie had an outstanding year being recognised with Victorian selection and this was the third time that he has won the clubs best and fairest award an outstanding achievement.Angus Tummel won the 2nd XVIII best and fairest from Will Davis and Tim Keck/Ashley Walsh (equal third); Ashley Lim won the 3rd XVIII (Under 19) award from Max Davis and Cameron Hummerston/Fraser Macfarlane (equal third). Alex Wallace-Smith won the 4th XVIII award with Tom Gaunt second and Richard McCann third. Lachie McDonough won the 5th XVIII (Cardinals) best and fairest and Mark Azzopardi took out the Superules teams top award.The Bill Pearson Award for Most Valuable Person went to Pat Ryan; the Ian McKinley Wilson Encouragement Award to George Dick; the Manson Russel Award for Most Sacrificial Acts to Rob Ashton; and the Ewen Davidson Award for Team Player of the Year to Nathan Byrne.Pam Tummel received the Bryan Gibbs Award for Distinguished Service and John Gray received a VAFA service award.Ben Doherty, Josh Kitchen, Rob Ashton and Adam Nettleton all received Distinguished Player Awards. Player milestone awards went to Simon Dick, Charles Swan, Charlie Tallent, Nic Thompson, Lachie Thompson and Adam Kyriakou (100 games); and Josh Kitchen, Andrew Quail and Nick Simon (150 games). President not to stand for re-electionClub President Tim Shearer, who has led the club passionately and successfully for the past 10 years, announced that he would not be standing for re-election as OSFC President or for the committee at the annual general meeting in November.Tim will be nominated for OSFC life membership at the AGM which will be held on Monday 23 November at 7.00pm at the Camberwell Sportsground clubrooms. |
