2009 Draws to a Close
The curtain has been drawn on the 2009 season at Sportscover Arena on Sunday where the 2s were beaten by a more experienced Old Brighton in the first semi final. Old Brighton jumped out of the blocks and used the scoring end effectively with 6 majors, and then repeated the dose with 6 more into the wind in the second quarter. With the result of the match gone, we fought hard in the third quarter and then dropped away again in the last. It was a good experience for our young players who have hopefully learnt a lot from their brief involvement in finals footy. Thanks go to Nathan Brown for stepping into Chris Cogans coaching shoes for the last two matches. Chris is to be recognised for a good season and no doubt some foundations have been built for the future. It also meant a start to Mad Mondaty celebrations, with over 50 attending during the day and night. The club would like to thank all involved with the 2009 season, it has been a testing one, and we are all acutely aware that much work needs to be done by everyone to improve in 2010. The foundations are there and plans are already well underway. A reminder again of our upcoming presentation night on AFL Grand Final eve. Go Cardinals.
